fed vs anti-feds

Health care was one of the things that we talked about during  history. Also the fact is that health care is still a piece of history because people are still arguing about. President Obama made a stand and implemented a health care plan that most people do not understand. This also relates to fed vs anti-feds because the democrats want the health care to change and the republicans do not want universal health care, or the manner that it has been setup at this point. I think this is on both fed and anti-feds side because one wants it one way and the other wants it the other way. I am going to be interviewing my grandpa about this and seeing what he thinks it was or will be.

His thoughts on on my topic in points.

Federalists

  • government controls providers
  • government controls and dictates coverages
  • government Obama demand control of health care providers
  • providers approved by government are in control of cost and services
Anti-feds

  • government should limit cost coverages
  • government should not control and adminster
  • Doctors and medical professionals should be in control.
Opinion
government had made health care inefficient and costly they need to deregulate.
  • providers make margin profits and decrease quality of care
  • government needs to allow open competition of providers across state lines
  • government need to tort reform to limit cost of malpractice suits. Obama has and will make health care cost more and coverage and care will decrease

Life the Book

1. What are you most proud of in your Life: The Book writing? Try to describe this is detail!

Well I though I did better this time than I did last time. Well I put a lot of though into it because it was going to be a life story about someone I know and I knew I had to do my best.

2. What are some changes or new ideas that you have developed in your writing through the course of this semester?

Well writing out side and writing with friends are fun and we bounce off each other and it is sometime quieter when i am outside by myself.

3. If you had a little more time to work on your writing for LifE: The Book, what would you do differently? What would you change about your writing?

Well I think I would not change much but I would have a lot big essay than I have now.

4. How has the additional element of publication in a book affected the way you approach writing?

This make me work harder to get it done and a lot of people can see it and I am going to bring a copy to my old school so they can see what i am doing now.

What are your character's main goals for the Senate Health Care Hearings?

Bill Nelson wants to expand the health care coverage to 32 million people, Prevent insurance companies from denying coverage to anyone with preexisting conditions, Stop insurance companies from dropping someone when he or she gets sick, Allow children to stay on their parent’s insurance plans until age 26, Provide discounts to seniors to help the pay for the cost of prescription drugs when they hit the Medicare coverage gap known as the “doughnut hole”, and Offer tax credits to small businesses to help them provide insurance to their employees.

What do you want to accomplish?

Bill Nelson hopes his goals gets passed into the bill.

How do you plan to accomplish it?

Get one other Senator from the republicans side to vote with Bill Nelson and the rest of the democrats.

Who are you working with to get this done?

Both Carli's and Jerry.

1. By Kudlow "Then there’s the charade of all those private health providers visiting the White House and promising $2 trillion in savings. Utter nonsense." he said this because it is true that a lot of private health providers do this because they just want money to come there way.

This impact my character a lot because they had a lot of trouble paying for their own bill for treatment for their daughter and my best cousin.

2. By George F. Will "a nation-ruining issue." he says this because right now it is a nation- ruining issue because Obama did not fix the issue he just covered it up on top of the issue.

This impacts my character for life the book because it would have been nice to have medicare for this treatment so she didn't have to pay a lot out of pocket. and that they said that in four years this will be fix and in full affect saying that kid can still be under there parents health care coverage until the age of 26.

3. By Joel A. Harrison "Recognizing these hidden costs that U.S. households pay for health care today makes it far easier to see how a universal single-payer system—with all of its obvious advantages—can cost most Americans less than the one we have today." I agree with him because then everyone would have health care coverage even the children and we wouldn't have to pay for it until later though tax. This will also impact my character for my story life the book because it was hard for my cousin to fund raise just enough money to pay for her treatment.

4. By Randell Hoven "In fact, we pay more for health care in taxes than countries that provide universal coverage."  "Then we pay more than that amount again in private coverage." I agree because in Joel Harrison's view again state " we pay 15% of coverage in GDP health care and others only paid about 8-10% of the coverage. this impact my character because it is showing that America is paying more then they have to it should be on the other Countries to pay for more of the health care because they are smaller them America."

4. The history of Non- Hodgkins Lymphoma cancer. Hodgkin's Lymphoma (Disease) has a colorful history: It was not the first cancer discovered but it was one of the first in which treatments were investigated and ultimately successful. The importance may lie in a long-term survivor matching their treatment time frame to determine which treatments and methodologies were used and available during the same time.
Government funding is divided among many different forms of cancer. Today the government provides 130.9 million dollars towards Non-Hodgkin’s Lymphoma.
3. Cancer invade the lymphatic system. lymphatic system (lim-FA-tik SIS-tem)
The tissues and organs that produce, store, and carry white blood cells that fight infections and other diseases. This system includes the bone marrow, spleen, thymus, lymph nodes, and lymphatic vessels (a network of thin tubes that carry lymph and white blood cells). Lymphatic vessels branch, like blood vessels, into all the tissues of the body.

This quote impacts my article for life the book because if my character had health care then she would not have had fund raising opportunity, but that would be good and she would be happy ether way.

By Sen. Berrie Sanders "I think the answer to the first question is pretty clear, and one of the reasons that Barack Obama was elected president. Most Americans do believe that all of us should have health care coverage, and that nobody should be left out of the system. The real debate is how we accomplish that goal in an affordable and sustainable way. In that regard, I think the evidence is overwhelming that we must end the private insurance company domination of health care in our country and move toward a publicly-funded, single-payer Medicare for All approach."

His quote impacts my article because when my cousin went into the hospital she had a lot of visitor from me, her soccer team/ fund raising team, and a lot of other family members.

By Bryan Young "Is this bad enough to need an emergency room visit?"

this doesn't really impact my article because he is not showing quotation points on his view. I can say that what he should of done was gone down to a hospital and ask the doctor to take a survey and see how many people are pay with out health care coverage and how many are because my character had to fund raise to get her money to pay for her treatment. that is what good friends do for each other and team mates and etc.

By Hornberger "At its core, the solution to America’s health care crisis lies in the abandonment of the notion that health care is a right."

This impacts my article because it is saying if I had food one day and the next day I needed to go to the doctor will i be able to afford my health bill with out medicare.

By Helen Redmond "The health care crisis impacts every aspect of our lives down to the most seemingly insignificant personal decisions we make. This national bully terrorizes and forces us to live in fear."

These quotes express how they are changing health care for all ages and that includes adolescence which would have been nice for my character to have health care coverage.

By Reid “demands for the first time in American history that good health will not depend on great wealth.”   “acknowledges, finally, that health care is a fundamental right—a human right—and not just a privilege for the most fortunate.”

This impact my article because it is showing how sometimes health is affordable but sometimes they aren't like my character but ether way we can save her life would make no difference really the only difference would be that she would not have had to pay but medicare would pay for here.

By Barack Obama “affordable health care” “decent standard of living”

4. Describe the types of health care problems Americans face, and the government's role in seeking solutions.
there are a lot of different health issue these days. here are the top 10 from http://www.livestrong.com/article/36536-top-health-problems-america/ .

Question 4 relates to my topic because cancer is in the top 10 health care problems in America.

1. Using a specific example, describe what makes a compelling character in narrative nonfiction or literary journalism.
Well in the covenant study guide shows that the compelling character is the main character or the one who is telling the story.

2. Using a specific example, describe what makes an interesting plot in narrative nonfiction or literary journalism.

An interesting lot has to have a good character, a setting to go with the story and a problem that the character has to over come and a solution to the problem. from the Darwin surprise in my view and what i see in my view.

3. What specific steps do authors take to write non-jargon-based scientific writing?
In open channel the scientific quotes, I think shows the non- jargon- based writing because it gives out a lot of background information to the reader. So they can go back and understand the writer prospective.

4. What specific steps do authors take to encourage their readers to connect with their stories?
Well they make  them so they are ether interested in the story so much that they want more like concerts not pancakes and they add in things that will help the reader understand there prospective and they might want to learn more about certain discovery's that are happening around the world. this is what I get at from the covenant when I look at the article and what my friends have wrote about it.
All these question that Randy gave use can help me make my report better in a lot of ways and all this is paying off I think now. I think that all of us are going to make great reports so we can share with the world and share are opinion on a topic that we now a lot about also showing the problem that some of are families are going throw right now.

The root cause for Michael Westermans death was that he was sharing his opinion and the fact that they just got out of the war make it look bad and also he was in the wrong area at wrong time.
Also in the fact that the people and Michael did not know a whole lot about the war they just new that it was bad and they need to take the right side.
Robert Penn Warrens childhood started off at a raw railroad town ringed by the fields of dark tobacco leafs. known as "the black patch."
The other packets that we did before are all connected in a way because if it wasn't you would not of given it as an assignment that didn't connect with are work for the mock trail. Also with the mock trail coming in it is going to have to tie all of the key component together to win the full vote out of all of use putting a lot of detail in the limited time that they have. So for all of the lawyers and witnesses i think that it will be a good mock trail to looking forward too.

Gun Rights in the US

http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/37972148/

The article that I chose is titled, Supreme Court Limits Local Gun Bans. This article discusses why Chicago liberals want guns ban because of gang violence. With a court ruling, the conservative moderates struck down the ban on guns by allowing  people to use handguns and  not need a trigger lock requirement. Justice Samuel Alito states that, "local officials still have leeway in crafting gun laws." Alito continues to discusses that Amendments are binding but their are always adjustments that can be made.

The amendment that I chose was the Second Amendment. This amendment was established for people, so that they have the rights to bear arms. This right to bear arms allows us to protect are selfs with the use of weapons. The article that I chose directly correlates to this amendment because it talks about how Chicago wants to ban guns.

Are amendments give us are freedom. The article shows the understanding that you can not take the peoples rights away to own guns but you can alter its restrictions on who can own them. New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg, an ardent proponent of gun control, said the ruling allows cities "to keep guns out of the hands of criminals and terrorists while at the same time respecting the constitutional rights of law-abiding citizens."I feel that they should not ban guns because then terrorist can get them a lot easier and we want to protect are selfs from that kind of problem. This amendment is interesting to me because our country is still trying to change it.

My icon and me working.
My icon
by Dylan James Heberling- Coffman
My icon is my Uncle Kevin, he works for the concrete industry. Before my Uncle was top dog for his crew he was at the bottom of the group.

My grandfather was the first one in my family to start working in the concrete world. He started at a company called Nelson & Sloan, they worked with transit mixed concrete and sand/crushed rock material. Then my grandfather started up Coffman Specialties or for short it is called (CSI), http://www.coffmanspecialties.com/. When my Uncle Kevin saw my grandfathers company he decided to come and work for him. He started at the bottom of the chain but worked his way up to the top. Today at this company there are more then just Coffman, there is asphalt called Sim J Harris, Electric called Empower, and lastly the trucking called DT Trucking. I started working for Coffman in 2001 doing little things around there office. Then when I got older I started working for the company call D & H which is now DT Trucking. My pay started at $5.00 an hour and now it is $8.50 an hour not much but it will do. DT Trucking is the first letter of my first name and the first letter of my cousins name.

My icon, is someone that I admire because when I get older, I want to be just like him. My grandfather taught him everything he knows so that he can show it to me and I can go and teach the next generation. Uncle Kevin would not just tell people what to do, if they did not understand it he would show them the right way to do it by helping them. He makes a differences in peoples lives, he leads by example and helps people achieve things to the best of their ability. My Uncle not only does this with his employees he demonstrates this around other contractor's as well. Most contractor's these days just tell people what to do. Uncle Kevin shows people how to make changes instead of just telling them. His crew is now stronger then the first time he tried; now Kevin can do both tell and show because he has gained their trust and respect.

He is an icon to me because he is showing me the difficulties there are in being a leader like him. I want to show his kids and mine all that he has taught me. He inspired me and a lot of other people to aim for success and grow in life. He also inspired himself to respect others and trust others at difficult times. When I get older I want to be a concrete worker or something in that field and put those skills that he taught me to good use. I want people to respect me like he does and to not look at the negative things but look at the positive things in life. That reminds me everyday that even though you are the bosses son or daughter, that you cant always be on top, you have to work hard and earn their trust, respect and put forth effort at your job. He works 16 hours a day and five day a week. My Uncle Kevin is an icon to me because he leads by example and is someone to look up to. He is  a great part of my life and I continue to make memories with him everyday.

When I took a journey to his end of the project and I could see that he works so hard to get this far and showed so many people how life can up date everyday of your life.

2) My though about this was hard because I learn so many and tried to use so many but I came up  with just a few that help out more then the others. They were the shot gun rule, the loopt, and swooper vs the basher.

3)  The most challenging for me was writing it down on the blog and revising it because I want to keep talking about him and how he helped me.

4) The most challenging for me was the shot gun rule because it didnt always work for this paticular topic.

5) He is an icon to me because he is showing me the difficulties there are in being a leader like him. I want to show his kids and mine all that he has taught me. Tuff love

This is something special to me it is my dog. I have know her since I was 5 years old and she was just a little pup. I grow up with her my whole life. Then I moved with her to my grandparents house and until today day.

Even though when she and I were little there was always a big connection between each other. When she and I were little we had good times and some bad ones and even some weird ones. But I though that this day would ever come. She is with the lord now and in a better place so I am happy for her, but sad at the same time.

1) I chose this opening because it was a way to give my reader a little bit information about My Uncle and I and how we started these jobs. In my closing I just want to say that if you respect everyone then they will respect you.

2) My closing in my icon statement shows that Kevin has everything you want in a boss and in an employee. I showed you why he is my icon.

3) I hope that my readers can relate to this special person in my life with some one in their life. I am showing my true feelings about this person and they would want to know more ka huna (which means the secret in Hawaiian)of my life.

American Icons and Resouces

The concrete industry is where a lot of my man part of the family started at. my grandfather work for a transit mixed concrete, sand and crushed rock company called Nelson & Sloan, in Chula Vista. Then my grandfather made Coffman Specialties which was small at first then. Next my uncle got into it and at first he was at the bottom of the totem pole but he worked his way to the top and there it is today. Coffman Specialties is now four companies in one. Which consisted of concrete, asphalt, electric, and lastly trucking. Now that i have been working a little bite with my grandparent. I work for the trucking company fix the trucking and just helping out which is cool because the trucking company is my first letter of my first name and my cousins first letter of his first name. So the name of the company is DT trucking. Coffmanspecialties.com. Working working for the company is fun and helpful people help you to have more skills which is nice because when you get to that field you ether fail or you learn as you go which can help you in the future of life.

5 answer: He inspired a lot of people like other contractors and me and a lot of other people that he hangs out with. He also inspired his crew to respect him.
6. how does these relate to me. Because when i get older I want to be a concrete work or something like that and put those skills that I learn so that i get my works and others to respect me the same way as he did. in fact before he was the top dog for his crew he was at the bottom of the group. So what reminds me everyday even though you are the bosses son or daughter that you cant be always on top you have to gain there trust and put a lot of effort out everyday. He did that and right now he works 16 hours a day or more and then times that by the week and you get a lot of hours and respect.
